The Arts at New Vistas

The Arts at New VistasThe arts at New Vistas School are flourishing! The school’s art studio space is available not only for specific art classes during the afternoon, but throughout the day for any academic class needing space to work on creative or art infused lessons. Daily art enrichment classes provide middle and high school students with the opportunity to work with a variety of art mediums. In addition, the New Vistas School visual arts program offers student choice and collaborative art making experiencing.

Field trips may include visits to the Maier Museum, the Daura Gallery, Africa House Gallery, and the Lynchburg Art Club, as well as visits to sites, like the Anne Spencer Garden, which offer rich subject matter. New Vistas School has partnered with the local Academy of Fine Arts over the years to provide students with the opportunity to take part in outreach programs, such as fused glass making and ceramics.

The entire student body at New Vistas School enjoys the arts. In addition to specific classes, students are exposed to fine art through the monthly exhibits held in our lobby through the Art All Around program. Since inception in 2006, the program has included exhibitions by area artists such as Pam Wallace, Kelly Mattox, Karen Bowden, David Johnson, John Morgan, and many others. Each spring, all students showcase their achievements and talents in our annual Can Do Night. There, students display artwork, recite poetry, perform musical pieces, and dance.
