Mrs. Doremus

Mrs. DoremusMy name is Kenna Doremus and I am currently teaching upper school English.  One class is a Life Skills class that incorporates social skills.  This year is the fourth level for this class, and students will be preparing for “life after New Vistas.”  In addition, I teach four general literature classes and a study strategies/keyboarding class.  I received my degree in English at Lynchburg College and have done post-graduate work in reading, special education and cognitive development at Lynchburg College, Old Dominion University and Chapman University (Irvine, California).

Classes focus on reading and writing strategies and exposure to the pleasure found in experiencing good literature. Vocabulary development is an important element in all classes, including a study of Greek and Latin word parts.  In addition, we are using more technology, with all students on laptops for their work.

I can most easily be reached via email.  I will respond to emails promptly and welcome all questions and concerns.
