TUITION

Please contact the NVS Business Office at (434) 846-0301, Ext. 13 for the current tuition rates.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Part of the NVS Mission and Philosophy reads: “As learning problems know no economic bounds, so, too, economic status should not be a barrier to attendance at NVS.” New Vistas is committed to admitting qualified students regardless of the family’s ability to pay the full cost of education. The administration encourages families to apply for admission even if they have questions about their ability to afford the total tuition. Qualification for assistance is based on demonstrated financial need as documented by the School and Student Services (SSS) and analysis of a family’s available resources.

The Business Manager works confidentially with parents/guardians to determine need and available funding. Tuition Assistance Awards are made by the Scholarship Committee. In 2015-16, 80% of NVS students received support and/or tuition assistance in some form.

TUITION ASSISTANCE PROCEDURE

Once a student has been accepted for admission the Tuition Assistance process can begin. The Scholarship Committee will review the applications after the following information is received.

  • A Confidential Tuition Assistance Application (available by contacting the NVS Business Office) will need to be completed and returned along with supporting documents. These documents Include: Signed copy of your tax return (IRS Form 1040) including all schedules, year-end income documents (W-2, 1099, etc.), and schedule C if applicable.
  • Applicants are also required to complete an online financial statement: The School and Student Services (SSS) by NAIS, Parent’s Financial Statement (PFS). A modest processing fee must be paid to SSS upon submission of the PFS.
  • All forms should be submitted as soon as possible as Tuition Assistance funds are limited. Awards are on a first come first served basis.

THE LUCY GUGGENHEIMER ROSS ENDOWMENT

In 2001, the New Vistas School Board of Directors established an endowed fund, created by Rosel and Elliot Schewel, to honor New Vistas founder and Head of School Lucy Guggenheimer Ross. The fund provides a perpetual honor for Ms. Ross and contributes annually toward tuition assistance for those families in financial need. Administered by The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust, this living fund is open for unrestricted contributions to support current and future NVS students. Those wishing to donate to this fund may contact the Trust at 434-845-6500.
