Ms. Snyder

Ms. SnyderWelcome to Mrs. Snyder’s page! This is my third year at New Vistas School and my fifth year living in Lynchburg, VA. My educational background started in Jacksonville, Florida- where I grew up- with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. I was also able to receive training in piano and voice performance for many years. In 2013, I completed my Masters in Teaching with dual endorsements in Elementary and Special Education with Liberty University. My heart is truly with special education, watching students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and mentally. Besides teaching, I love hiking and soaking in the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I also love swimming and being outdoors, preferably near a lake or an ocean!

For the 2015-2016 school year, I will be teaching 5 classes with upper school and 1 with lower school which include:

  • Wilson Reading (Lower School)
  • Foundations of Communication I (Upper School)
  • Reading Comprehension/Vocabulary (Upper School)
  • Foundations of Communication I (Upper School)
  • Wilson Reading (Upper School)
  • Music Elective (Upper School)

For each of these classes, I will seek to work toward the individual students’ needs. No matter what grade level a student may be in, certain skills- especially reading and writing- are important to emphasize on an individual level. My small class sizes are a perfect avenue for this individual instruction.
